As a Human Factors Specialist, you will be on the front lines of client support and employee leadership, embodying these values and delivering on our promise to all our clients and employees, current and future. Specifically, to help them Build a Better Business by Design™.

This position will be located in Houston, TX, and is in-person only. We serve a very diverse portfolio of clients; a flexible approach and mindset are key to your success in this role.

Primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide Human Factors Consulting
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in project management practices to effectively plan, execute, and complete work on time 
  • Ability to integrate work tasks for efficient completion of work 
  • Familiarity with FDA Human Factors Regulatory Process/Requirements 
  • 62366, FDA Guidance on Human Factors, 60601, HE75 etc. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of Mil Std 1472, NASA STD 3001 and SSP 50005 Requirements and Aerospace application 
  • Conduct Focus Groups, Benchmark studies, Task Analyses and Data Analyses 
  • Statistical analysis capabilities required 
  • Define testing plans, use case scenarios, and user risk matrices to support usability testing, including Human in the Loop (HITL), Formative and Summative usability tests 
  • Demonstrate understanding and capabilities regarding verification and validation activities 
  • Define and communicate design requirements based on user data/insights 
  • Capable of conducting data analysis and assessment pertaining to the Human System and testing efforts 
  • Develop Instructions for Use, Procedures, and Training protocols with project teams 
  • Develop project plans and communications for clients and C-suite personnel 
  • Write Human Factors reports and assessments 
  • Manage data and resources 
  • Connect and articulate product and service offerings and effectively communicate with management and clients 
  • Contribute and participate in writing company social media postings, including podcasts, blogs, and monthly topics 
  • Connect with current clients and partners throughout their engagement with Sophic and ensure they receive an exceptional experience 
  • Identify opportunities for expanding the scope of existing contracts 
  • Effectively communicate with Sophic management and clients 
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings 
  • Monitor customer accounts and needed actions 
  • Ensure all records are kept up-to-date and are accurate 
  • Maintain consistent communication regarding weekly plan/weekly status 
  • Complete assigned training within the required time-frame 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering required (or equivalent experience) with 3-7 years of experience as a practitioner of Human Factors or 
  • Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering required (or equivalent experience) with 1-5 years of experience as a practitioner of Human Factors 
  • Experience with FDA Human Factors regulatory requirements. 
  • Other government experience a plus 
  • Certification as a CHFP, CPE or CUXP 
  • Highly desired: Experience in Aerospace 
  • Diverse industry experience base is a plus 
  • US Citizenship or Green Card Equivalent
