Meet the Sophic Team

Ethan Tran

Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lab Technician Intern

Ethan joined the Sophic team in Summer 2026 as an Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lab Technician Intern. He is currently a rising senior Psychology and Art major at Rice University. Prior to joining Sophic, he was a research assistant for multiple human factors projects spanning semi-autonomous driving and unmanned aerial vehicles to wearable technology. He has experience designing and administering psychological experiments to gather human performance, usability, and mental workload data to inform the design of integrated systems. He plans to apply to graduate programs in the fall and consistently works to broaden his depth and breadth of technical and research skills.

This summer, Ethan is excited to be working on virtual reality simulations to be used for human factors assessments. He hopes to gain valuable developer skills so he can make materials and stimuli on his own for his Psychological Sciences Honors Thesis in the fall.
